We have talked in a post about getting yourself set up online with social media. It is now becoming an absolute necessity for any business, whether based in a physical location or explicitly online.

Now, we are going to talk about it and it’s not as hard as you might think it is.

To Get Started

Read the terms of service of every social media site you make a profile. Make sure that you fully understand the rules of the site before making a profile. It is important because if you break the rules, your profile could be deleted and all your hard work will be gone! As an example, some sites do not allow affiliate links; so know the site’s rules before you begin.

Use Your Business Name

When you are implementing social media marketing, try to get your business name included in your account name if possible. This is particularly important for platforms like Twitter where your account name is your displayed name. Your social network pages need to have new information and posts. Social network
users look for updates very often, and if your site does not provide new content, you could lose customers and damage your reputation. Have a plan in place and post regularly.

Posting

There are many posting calendars available, pick one, create your content and post regularly. The best way is to use a site that you can schedule those posts and know that your content will reach your audience.

Headlines

To create social media marketing materials that get noticed, learn how to write attention-grabbing headlines. It does not matter how good your products or services are unless the headline is good enough to draw in a reader!

People are skimming over many posts within their feed, so if it doesn’t grab them, they may not stop. So make yours stand out!

Connections

Keep the information flow going both ways on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, wherever. When your readers’ comment, respond!

Give people who react to your  content a thumbs-up, and quickly respond to questions they ask. This will help you to establish and maintain a connection with your potential customers. This is important for showing you as the face of your business and adding a personal touch to it.

Remember, people follow you and comment because they want to connect. When they connect, they will, we hope, eventually buy your product or service.

Bonus Tip

It is a great idea to include a Facebook “LIKE” button somewhere on the homepage of your website and your blog as well.

This makes it easy for people to connect without even needing to go to your page. Although going to your page is what we want them to eventually do, this does make it easy and maybe more likely that they will connect. The desired result here is, of course, seeing more followers, no matter how they get there.

Marketing

For some, social media can seem intimidating. Especially for someone who hasn’t spent much time on it. It is really quite simple though. With simple advertising messages delivered via social media accounts, you can have conversations, build relationships with the customers, and drive sales to your site, simply by meeting them where they want to be!

As marketing goes, social media is free and simple enough to do yourself without having to hire a professional. It does, however, need to be consistent and monitored to be effective. So, if that is not what you want to do, we are here to help!
