Fine Tune Your Goals to Grow Your BusinessThere’s no doubt that your aim is always to grow your business.

Business growth signifies success. It communicates that you’re resonating with your ideal clients and that you’ve carved out a space for yourself in your niche. And, that’s always your focus.

But, creating a goal of growth itself is difficult to manage. It’s too broad. It encompasses too much.

Therefore, it’s vital to narrow your goal and really think about HOW you will generate growth in your business.

Here’s how to make your goal more attainable to grow your business in two steps:

Create a SMART Goal

Creating a SMART goal enables you to make an achievable goal and gives you the ability to reflect on your progress as you’re working on your goal.

What is a SMART Goal and why is it important?

Specific – Ask yourself: What do I want to achieve and how will you get there? This is so important. Narrowing down your goal gives you a focus. For example, will you grow your business by generating more leads and nurturing those leads?

A specific goal enables you to focus your energy on that rather than expending your energy on lots of things that ultimately slow you down.

Measurable – To create a measurable goal, consider: How will you know when the goal is accomplished? This helps you narrow your goal even further. For example, how much do you want to grow your business? It is a specific number of clients you want to bring on or a specific amount of sales you want to reach?

With a measurable goal, you’re able to focus on specific and assess your progress along the way. This allows you to constantly reflect on how close you are to your goal and make adjustments in order to make the necessary moves to achieve your goal.

Achievable – Deciding whether or not your goal is achievable serves as a reality check. Lofty dreams are great and oftentimes necessary. But, achievable goals turn your dreams into action. In business, it’s unlikely that you’ll go from nothing to great success in a short amount of time. But, it is likely that you can make goals that serve as stepping stones to your dreams.

When creating a goal, consider what is achievable within the constraints you’re currently facing (financial, time, etc.).

Relevant – While business growth is always relevant, how you grow your business is dependent on where you are currently. A relevant goal considers the current timing and environment. You have to ask: Is this the right time? Is this goal manageable?

To create a relevant goal, you may choose to build on what you’re already doing or you may seek out help from experts to expand your business. But, whatever you decide to do, make sure your goal is what’s right for your business right now.

Time-Bound – What is the time frame in which you wish you achieve your goal? Is it six months? A year?

Creating a goal to achieve within a specific time frame allows you to create a plan, measure your progress, and adapt your plan in order to meet your goal.

Scale Your Business

Is your business ready for growth? What systems need to be in place before you can handle the growth? Do you need to hire experts to advise you in building systems to grow your business? Do you need to hire help to keep up with the growth you desire?
