Jennifer:

Hey there, welcome back to Marketing Matchmaker, have you ever had one of those days where it seems like things just keep piling up on you one after another, you’re you start this one project, and then something else comes in, and you have to stop. And it feels like you’re just kind of getting buried under all of the tasks that go into your business. I know often times marketing can feel exactly like that for some of our clients where it feels like it’s a never ending list of things they need to do. One minute, they’re posting on Instagram, the next minute, they’re recording a podcast, the next minute, they’re crafting a blog post or an email.

By the end of the day, it feels like you’ve barely had time to actually converse with your clients or work on your business, or work in the area of your business that you excel at.

Does that sound familiar?

In today’s world, we are constantly bombarded with new tasks and new programs and new processes that will help us accelerate our business growth, or that will make be the game changer for our business. And honestly, it can sometimes feel overwhelming to try to be everywhere all the time, feeling like you need to be on Instagram and on Facebook and on LinkedIn and on and on and on and on, we can go through all of the different programs, our social media platforms out there. And it all comes back down to that overwhelming feeling of trying to be everywhere, without being everywhere. What if I told you that sometimes less, is really more? Yes.

Today, we’re going to dive into the art of simplifying your marketing. So it feels a little less overwhelming for you will really focus in on the magic of focusing our energy on just a few really impactful things that you can do and channels that you are on, and show you how to get outstanding results without that overwhelming hustle and grind every day.

So take a deep breath, get a pen and paper, and let’s dive in today’s episode.

Oftentimes in our business, we feel I don’t know about you. I know I do feel like there’s so many things that we need to do. And every guru out there is telling you a different thing, right? Some are saying to focus on Instagram, others on YouTube, others on LinkedIn. And then there are those new platforms that pop up like Threads or Snapchat or it’s not new, or Tik Tok, not new either. But you get what I mean. Every time you turn around, there seems to be something new that pops up. And yet, in a world where more often seems synonymous with better, sometimes it is actually better to scale back. Here’s the thing. casting a net everywhere might seem like a surefire way to catch something.

But what if you’re casting in waters where your ideal clients aren’t even swimming. Oftentimes, we spread ourselves too thin trying to be on every platform trying to engage in every tactic. We end up draining our valuable resources, time, money, energy, those things that could be better spent on really growing our business and scaling.

It’s crucial that you understand that by trying to be everywhere and everything to everybody. We risk the fallacy of not resonating with anyone I’ve said this before. If you try to market to everyone, and anyone, nobody actually hears you, your message gets diluted. So it’s not about being seen. It’s about being remembered. It’s about connecting with your audience in a way that is meaningful. And that creates interaction with your core audience.

Also remember that personal toll.

Reality is is if we are constantly racing around trying to keep up with that million in one task and trying to be everywhere all the time. And it often is a one way ticket to burnout.

Trust me, I’ve been there.

And let’s be honest, nobody wants to go back there. So while the allure of trying to do everything is tempting, it’s really time to focus in on the impactful content and platforms that can really make a difference in your business. So when we start thinking about the idea of streamlining, the big question is, what should you focus on?

Realistically, I get asked this all of the time, and think about it from this perspective. When you are marketing your business, what is going to be the most impactful thing that you can do for you, your business, and most importantly, for your audience? And quite honestly, where does your audience hang out? Right?

First and foremost, foremost, the most important thing that you can do for your business and your marketing is knowing your audience. Are they professionals networking on LinkedIn? Or are they business owners on Instagram? Or are they maybe younger on Tik Tok? Knowing who they are, what they do, and what it is they consume will help you to really create not only content that connects with them, but also be on the platform that they are at. Knowing your audience demographic isn’t just marketing one on one, it’s really your compass to this digital landscape.

It’s what will help you to be where your audience is and speak their language rather than trying to navigate every platform.

Part two of this is really, it’s knowing your content, right? It’s knowing what your audience is, we’re back to knowing your audience. But it’s more about what it is you’re saying. Those fleeting conversations versus deep, meaningful ones that you can have with your audience, which you think is really going to be remembered the next day.

The same goes for your marketing. It’s not just about how many platforms you’re on, or how much content you can produce. It’s about the depth of your engagement with your audience, dive deep, engage in a meaningful way and watch your connections online, turn into conversions and sales, understand what it is that your audience needs to hear, do or feel in order to be ready to take that next step with you.

Lastly, it’s incredibly important to focus in on your data. I know nobody likes me to hear hear me say that. But the numbers, they tell a story. It’s a story about what’s working, what’s not working, and more importantly, where your opportunities lie. So that you’re able to better capitalize on what’s working, and leave off what’s not. So don’t just rely on a gut feeling or what’s trending or what the newest platform is coming out, dive into the data of your marketing and understand where your traffic is coming from.

And more importantly, what’s leading to those conversions.

What conversations are out there that you need to have, when it comes to creating effective streamlined marketing. It is about choosing your battles carefully. Choose which platforms resonate best with your audience, choose what content is going to best relate to them, go deep, not broad. And let the data guide you in a way that’s going to lead you to those sales.

When it comes to creating that content personalization of the content is key. I mean, I’m sure you’ve gotten those emails or those ads that feel like they’re speaking directly to you. That’s because they probably are those marketers, those business owners understand their audience better than anyone else. And guess what? Because of that, they likely have a much higher ROI when it comes to their marketing. Personalized campaigns are like having a one-on-one conversation with your audience. They help them to feel seen and heard and understood. And this personal touch well, it can make the difference between them scrolling hast your content and clicking on it to do the next step. Here’s the thing, though, marketing is never set in stone, the digital landscape is ever changing. There is constantly a new platform or a new algorithm or a new way to interact with those platforms to navigate.

We have to be willing to change course when necessarily, we really need to be regularly checking, regularly checking on those analytics, to make sure that what we’re doing is working, it’s not just a smart move, it’s really essential because those numbers and graphs, they’re like a map that’s going to take you on the right path, and through a quicker route to your destination of growing your business. So you want to make sure that you always have your eye on that, that data will really allow you to be adaptable.

However, here’s another quick point being adaptable. Adaptable does not mean hopping on every new trend. And every new pet platform. It’s about making smart choices. It’s about understanding if that social new social media platform is right for you and your audience. Or if this new trending music or option to be on a social media platform is a game changing strategy for you. Or if it’s something that’s going to derail you and take you down this path of never reaching your goals.

Not every strategy out there is meant for you and your business. And that’s okay.

One of the biggest things you can do that will help to avoid overwhelm is really to celebrate your wins, relish those high engagement posts, those interactions, talk to your audience, toast every successful campaign. And after that, make sure that you put on your thinking cap and really review it from a perspective of what can we do better next time. Because the thing about marketing is there’s always room to grow and innovate. And yes, streamline further. So remember, being flexible isn’t just about dodging obstacles. It’s about dancing with grace and style. It’s about knowing what’s going to connect with you and your audience and your brand.

So you might be wondering how you go about streamlining? What is it that you can do right now?

Step one is really to take a deep breath and perform a marketing audience. Yes, lay everything on the table. Which platforms are you on? What strategies are you using, what campaigns are really working and which ones are just taking up space.

Trim the stuff that’s not working.

Remember, every piece of your marketing pub puzzle should have a purpose. If it doesn’t fit, it’s okay to set it aside. Once you’ve done that audit, and really streamline your marketing, the thing is, is you’re not necessarily done. The consistent check ins are key. So make sure that every quarter you are reviewing your marketing and what is working and what is not to make sure that those strategies are still aligned with your goals.

Be brave enough to make tweaks to the campaigns that aren’t working to see if you might be able to make them work better. Sometimes it’s about the smallest tweak. Other times, it may be time to burn down the campaign and start over again. But you won’t know that unless you’re actually paying attention to your marketing campaigns on a long term basis. I will tell you right now, this is not decisions you can make within a week. Sometimes it will take weeks or months to decide something is working or not working.

Remember, every piece of your marketing puzzle should have a purpose. If it doesn’t fit, it’s okay to set it aside.

Lastly, embrace the power of focused efforts. I know sometimes content creation can be exhausting, it can feel like that’s all you’re ever doing. However, if you set a time aside a time where you are highly focused on just creating content, whether it’s small bits or pod casts, you’ll have a much wider ability to make that strategy work for you. It’s also really important to believe in your strategy, be patient and really watch that streamline approach yield bigger and better results when it comes to your marketing.

When it comes to streamlining your marketing efforts, it’s almost like cleaning out a cluttered room. Suddenly, everything just feels lighter, clearer and infinitely more effective. Remember, in this crazy world of digital marketing, trying to be everywhere, and everything to everybody can often mean that you’re not truly connecting anywhere or with anybody.

Instead, find your marketing sweet spot and pour your energy they’re really capitalizing on what it is that’s working for you will help set you up for a future that will help you to grow your business, increase your revenue, and scale your impact.
