Hey there. Welcome back to Marketing Matchmaker. I hope you have been enjoying this focus on marketing must haves for July. I have really been enjoying sharing 'em with you the last couple of weeks. We've talked about goal setting and target audience and really diving into the depths of each of those processes when it comes to your marketing, because they're incredibly important.

And I know that as business owners, while we may not skip every step, there are times when we skip a step when it comes to marketing or business and not having those steps in place can affect how profitable your marketing is in the long run. So today's episode is really gonna dive into some other areas of things that you really must have if you really want to grow your business. And we're talking about growing your business beyond even that six figure point, like these are things that every seven and eight figure business owner has and does. They're not really secrets, but it seems to be something that not everybody is aware of.

So let's start with your email list. I've said it on multiple episodes, your email list is the number one asset in your company that you want to grow. And it is one of the most important things in your business in order to really scale in those ways that we have in upward directions, having an email list is incredibly important. And on top of that, having an engaged email list is vital.

If you have a thousand people on your email list and only 10 of them open your emails or connect with your emails or do the next thing that you ask them to do in your emails, that my friends, isn't really a very engaged email list and it's not going to do you any good. So making sure that not only are you focusing on growing your email list every day, every month of every year, you should be having some type of growth to your email list.

You should be constantly adding people to your email list. And I will also say you should be removing people who are not engaged in your email list from your email list. The thing is, not everybody that joins your email list is going to buy from you, which means those people that aren't going to buy from you. You're just paying to host them on your email. Like you're sending them valuable information and they have no desire to take that next step. What's the point of that?

Making sure that you are cleaning your email list on a regular basis will really help you in the long run to increase your deliver abilities of your emails, and also to continually be able to nurture, grow, scale, and sell into that email list, right? Because that's the point we want an email list that we can sell to. And if we have hundreds of people on the email list, or even thousands of people on your email list, and they are not actively engaging in it and they are not actively doing the next thing or the things that you're asking them to do, even if it's watch your video on YouTube or watch your video, follow your podcast or whatever you want people on your email list that are doing the thing you're asking, because otherwise there's no point.

The other thing that every 6, 7, 8 figure business owner that I know has, that a lot of business owners when they're just starting seem to think it's a nice to have, is automation. It is so much easier to build and grow that in critical email list. If you have an automated process to do it right. And when we talk about automation, we're obviously talking about a sales funnel. The purpose of a sales funnel is to take your ideal client from introduction through to commitment. The whole purpose of a sales funnel is to bring them into your email list, nurture them and get them to buy at some point.

Now everybody has a different buying process. Everybody has a different timeline of when they're going to buy. So setting up that automation is going to help you extremely, critically, be able to continue to connect with that audience without having to do it manually.

That's the thing, as we grow our business, as we get to those six and seven figures of our business, we often run out of time to do those more individual connections with our audience, right? So when we're just getting started, we can easily message them on Instagram to, to DM them. We can easily send out personalized emails to people, but as we grow, that becomes more and more difficult. It takes us away from what we really should be doing, which is serving the clients we have.

So when it comes to marketing, having your automation set up sooner than later is going to really allow you to grow your business faster. Your sales funnel leads will end up eventually being clients if it's done right. And as we said, if not, we move them off the list. When a client opens your website and they are going to your lead magnet and they download it, this is the process of automation, right?

It means that potential audience member connects connected to whatever it is that you're giving away for free so that they can learn more about who you are, that learning more about who you are, allows them to connect with you and see you as the expert in what you do. And as the service provider that can help them with whatever their problem is.

Having a really great automation will really help you to grow your business in a way that's easy and effortless. Now, when we talk about automation, there's some things that we also wanna talk about when it comes to that. And that is data. I know nobody likes to talk about data. Nobody likes to talk about numbers. I get it. However, what we know as business owners is that data is critical. Every business owner, six and seven figures and eight figures that I know knows all of their data.

They know how many people are opening their emails. They know how many people are connecting, clicking on whatever that thing is in their email. They know their P&L. They know all of the things they understand their data. And the reason they do is because when you look at that data, you're able to see what's working. That's the thing. And this actually ties into this last piece of which is testing. So I'm kind of gonna combine testing and data.

One of the biggest mistakes that business owners make is that they don't test enough. They don't test the message enough. They don't test the headline. They don't test the email sequence. They don't see where people are falling off because they're not data driven. They're not understanding that, Hey, someone's coming in, they love my lead lead magnet. I'm getting hundreds of people signed up for that.

But by email two, they stop connecting. What is it about email two that they stopped reading, right? When you look at that data, you're able to come in and test different things that will help you to understand what's working, and what's not in your marketing. Testing is critical. It's why I call marketing both a science and an art, right? The science part of it is focusing on understanding that data on how many people are opting in to your lead magnet, how many people are going through your whole welcome series. And they're reading every one of those emails, how many people are taking the next step, whether that's getting on a phone call or buying your course or whatever that thing is, understanding that data then helps you to assess what's working in your business.

It's the same when it comes to podcasting or YouTubes or social media posts, all of those things are data driven, because one, when you understand, and when you know what's working, you can pour more of it on more gasoline onto that fire, growing it in a way that really helps to grow your audience, bring in leads, bring in sales. Without data, you're not really able to do that. With the data though. You're able to test different things. So you can do an AB test.

AB test just means that you test out, maybe this headline against this headline and see which one actually works better. Those kind of things help you to really clarify your message and connect with your target audience, which is crucial if you really wanna grow a successful 6, 7, 8 figure business.

The four things that we've di we've talked about in this episode, having an email list, having automation, understanding the data from that automation and from every step of your marketing and testing your marketing in different ways is really how people create these empires. It's how those gurus that you follow created their business to the point they are right now. They didn't get lucky. They did it because they dove into their marketing and they understood what they needed to do in order to grow it to the next step.

They tested things. They tested lead magnets, they tested messaging. They tested audiences. They looked at the data from those tests and understood what was working and did more of that and less of what wasn't, that's the key to really growing those seven and eight figure businesses.

That's the key to really be successful when it comes to your business. Having marketing that you understand is working so that you can do more of what works and less of what doesn't. And that my friends is how you're going to grow your business, increase, your revenue, and scale your impact.
