When it comes to marketing your business, many business owners will skip some steps. Important steps. Not having those steps in place can affect how profitable your marketing is and how likely you are to scale to those six, seven, and eight figures in the long run.
If you really want to grow your business to that level, there are a few marketing must-haves that you really do need to have in place. These are the things that seven and eight-figure business owners have in place.
Here’s the thing – they’re not really secrets. It’s just that not everyone does them.
Here are the 4 Marketing Must-Haves to Reach Seven Figures!
1. An engaged email list
Your email list is the number one asset in your business. You want to focus on email list growth. Your email list is one of the most important things for your business when it comes to scaling.
Having an email list is incredibly important, and, on top of that, having an engaged email list is vital. If you have a thousand people on your email list and only ten people open your emails or engage with your emails, that is NOT an engaged email list and it’s not going to do you any good.
Be sure that you are not just focusing on growing your email list, but also on removing those from your email list who are not engaged. Cleaning your email list on a regular basis will help you in the long run. Not only will it increase your deliverability, but it will also increase your ability to nurture and grow relationships with those who are engaged.
You want an email list that you can sell to!
2. Automation
Every six, seven, and eight-figure business owner I know has automations set up throughout their business! However, I find that many business owners who are just getting started think of automation as a nice to have instead of a need to have.
It is so much easier to build and grow if you have an automated process in place. When I talk about an automated process, I’m really referring to a sales funnel. The purpose of a sales funnel is to take your ideal client from introduction to commitment. The whole purpose of a sales funnel is to bring your ideal client into your email list, nurture them, and turn them into a customer.
Because every potential client will have their own buying process and timeline, setting up that automation will allow you to connect with that audience without having to do it manually. As you scale to six and seven figures, finding time for individual connections can become more difficult and it can take us away from serving our clients.
When it comes to marketing, having your automation set up soon, rather than later, is going to allow you to grow your business more quickly. Having a great automation set up will help you to grow your business in a way that is easy and effortless.
3. Data
Gathering, knowing, and understanding your data is critical. Every six, seven, and eight-figure business owner I know, know their data. They know how many people are opening their emails. they know how many people are clicking on links and which links they’re clicking on. They know their PNL. They know and understand all of their data.
The reason they know and understand all of their data is because they want to see what is working and what is not working.
4. Testing
One of the biggest mistakes business owners make is that they don’t test enough. They don’t test their message enough. They don’t test their headlines. They don’t test their email sequences. And because they don’t test, they don’t see where people are falling off of their funnel.
When you look at your data and where you are losing people, you are able to test out alternatives for that piece. Testing is critical and it is why I consider marketing to be both a science and an art.
The people who are able to scale to six and seven figures don’t just get lucky. They dove into their marketing and understood what they needed to do to grow.
